About PLL
Pomona Learning Loft: Tutoring & Mentoring Center (“PLL”) is a newly created organization established in February 2024. We are a startup nonprofit dedicated to standing in solidarity with the Pomona community. Pomona Learning Loft is a branch of the Living Hope Foundation, A Nonprofit Corporation (“LHF”). LHF owns the building where PLL is located, 260 E. 2d St. in the downtown Antique District of Pomona. Furthermore, LHF will be operating a neighborhood market, café, gelato, sandwich shop, and teaching kitchen in the adjoining space at 290 E. 2d St. Finally, LHF plans to operate a counseling Center to provide affordable counseling services to local Pomona residents and the surrounding community at 269 S. Gibbs St. (the 2d floor of 290 E. 2d St.)
PLL is located in the historic downtown area of Pomona in the Antique Row. We believe that having a storefront building in downtown Pomona will provide visibility and accessibility to impact as many students in the PUSD as possible. The location will make it easy for most students to visit and enhance their educational opportunities in a safe, fun, and comfortable environment. PLL has created its Economic Development Vision (EDV) by engaging in community meetings with residents, parents of school aged children, and business owners. PLL believes that being in the downtown Antique Row fulfills the vision of LHF’s Downtown Revitalization plan. The plan is to use a high-profile building in downtown to attract students and Pomona Residents.
Mission & Vision
PLL is a dedicated organization committed to standing in solidarity with the Pomona residents and providing educational tutoring, mentoring, and training for the Pomona K-12 students. PLL will collaborate with Pomona Unified School District (PUSD) including the School of Extended Educational Options (SEEO) in providing valuable services such as tutoring, mental health counseling, mentoring, job training, and vocational training to enhance the educational experience and prospects of the Pomona K-12 students.
The LHF vision includes job creation. The jobs will be created in its market, café, sandwich shop, and gelato shop. Furthermore, the LHF teaching kitchen will be utilized for hands-on cooking sessions that celebrate fresh ingredients, vibrant flavors, and the joy of creating healthful dishes. LHF & PLL are passionate about empowering our residents with culinary skills. The LHF cooking classes focus on wholesome, nutritious meals that nourish both body and soul. LHF will emphasize how to plan, shop, and budget for making the best healthy and nutritious choices, without sacrificing taste. No judgment, just delicious learning!
